Twilight Run is proud to announce the award of the
American Kennel Club Certificate of Inspection Gold Seal
for the last four years. It is the highest award
an inspector can give to a breeder.
We are inspected regularly (every 12-18 months) by
AKC (American Kennel Club). All our dogs and puppies
are AKC registered. While the inspector is here, paperwork
compliance is checked and verified for thoroughness and
completion. Cleanliness of all facilities is also
checked as well as the well-being of all the
dogs.
If we have a litter of puppies when the inspector is
here, he can take a DNA sample (mouth swab) from the
puppies as well as the parents. If this DNA sample
does not match, we will no longer be able to register our
dogs with the AKC. AKC requires that sires used in
more than three breedings each year be DNA tested.
Irregardless of how many litters we use a sire for, we DNA
test all our sires.
Kennel inspections are done to ensure the integrity of
the AKC registry and monitor care and conditions at kennels
across the country. The AKC is the only purebred dog
registry in the United States that maintains an organized
and continuous investigation and inspection effort. The AKC
conducts approximately 5,000 inspections each year to
ensure compliance with standards that support the health,
safety, and welfare of dogs and the environments in which
they live.
When you purchase a puppy from us, you will receive an
AKC puppy registration application that allows you to
choose your full registered name for your puppy and then
send it in with the AKC. Although there is no
requirement you register with the AKC there are benefits to
doing so. See the AKC website at www.AKC.org for information on
registration.
